Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

(A) Eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. Programme-

The following are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme:

(1) Candidates who have completed:

  • i. A master's degree program that extends over 1 year or 2 semesters, undertaken after the achievement of a four-year bachelor's degree, equivalent to eight semesters.
  • ii. The master's degree program, which spans two years and consists of four semesters, is open to those who have completed a three-year bachelor's degree or hold qualifications deemed equivalent to a master's degree by the appropriate statutory regulatory body. Applicants are required to have attained at least 55% marks in total or an equivalent grade on a point scale, as applicable.
  • iii. or a comparable qualification obtained from a foreign educational institution that has been accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency recognized or authorized by a governing body established under the laws of its home country or any other statutory authority in that country responsible for evaluating, accrediting, or ensuring the quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • iv. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
  • v. Candidates who have attained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the M.Phil. program, or an equivalent grade on a point scale where such a system is utilized, or hold a similar qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by a recognized assessment and accreditation agency, are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program. This agency must be sanctioned by an authority established under the law in the institution's home country or any other statutory authority responsible for the assessment, accreditation, or quality assurance of educational institutions.
  • vi. A permanent staff member at Mind Power University is eligible for the PhD program and can continue working while completing the PhD coursework. The staff member is required to adjust their work schedule to ensure that it does not overlap with the course work classes.
  • vii. Individuals working in different organizations must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the PhD coursework.
  • viii. Post-Graduation (PG) Final Year/ Semester Exam student are provisionally eligible for the PhD Examination.
  • ix. A candidate shall generally be permitted to pursue a PhD in the subject in which they have obtained a Master’s Degree. However, research work leading to a PhD may also be allowed in an allied subject, either within the same faculty or in a different faculty, upon recommendation by the concerned Board of Studies (BOS) or Research Degree Committee (RDC). The allied subject must be approved by the University’s Academic Council for this purpose.

Note: - A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be granted to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories, as per the decisions made by the Commission from time to time.
